The 7th Grade Lamar Bearcats traveled to Lake Belton to take on the Broncos. It was a tough start, as the Bearcats fell behind 24-0 by the beginning of the second quarter. However, the offense found some momentum behind Jafari Bennet, who broke off a couple of big runs that set up two rushing touchdowns.
As the defense began to get stops, the Bearcats fought their way back, but costly mistakes slowed their comeback. The run game continued to be effective, with Jafari Bennet and Aadyn Linear providing a strong 1-2 punch of speed and power. The offensive line, led by Daniel Ruiz, set the tone up front as he consistently moved defenders and opened running lanes.
Defensively, several players stood out, including Camden Grant, Wa'quavian Lee, Michael Nino, Channing Brown, Aadyn Linear, and Jafari Bennet, all of whom made key plays throughout the night.
The Bearcats ultimately fell by a final score of 38-13. They’ll look to bounce back next week when they travel to Lake Belton High School to take on North Belton, with kickoff set for 6:15 p.m.
