The 8th Grade A Team also faced Lake Belton on Sept. 16 in the inaugural game at the newly named Brad Dusek Field.

The Bearcats started strong, running the ball effectively on their opening drive. Damien Mitchell showed his speed on the outside while Armani Velasquez powered through tackles. Mitchell capped off the drive with a 10-yard touchdown run. However, the Bearcats’ defense struggled to slow down the Broncos’ offense, and injuries began to take a toll as the game slipped away. Still, the Bearcats continued to fight with toughness and grit.

Standout performances came from Anthony Martin, Mitchell, Velasquez, Liam Inzunza, Julian Sanchez, and Rogelio Flores. The Bearcats fell to Lake Belton by a score of 36-6.

The Bearcats will regroup and take on North Belton on Tuesday at Brad Dusek Field, where Teacher Appreciation Night will be celebrated between the A and B games.
