TEMPLE, TX — It was a challenging night on the court this past Thursday as the Lamar Lady Bearcat 7th Grade B team hosted River Valley Middle School. Despite a high-energy atmosphere at home, the Lady Bearcats struggled to find their offensive rhythm, ultimately falling to a disciplined River Valley squad with a final score of 36-3.
River Valley jumped out to an early lead, utilizing a fast-paced transition game that kept the Lady Bearcats on their heels. While the scoreboard remained lopsided, the Lamar players showed significant grit, fighting for rebounds and diving for loose balls until the final buzzer.
Players of the Game
Two Lady Bearcats stood out for their effort and leadership during the contest:
KaLeah Ward: Ward provided the offensive spark for Lamar, contributing 2 points and showing great poise under pressure when bringing the ball up the court.
Kealy Walker: Walker was recognized for her relentless hustle and defensive presence, anchoring the team's effort to slow down the River Valley attack.
Looking Ahead
The Lady Bearcats will have some time to regroup and refine their skills on the practice floor. The team enters a bye week next week, giving them a chance to rest and prepare for their upcoming trip to Copperas Cove.
Lamar will return to action on Thursday, January 22, for a road game against SC Lee Junior High. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
