Lady Bearcats 8th Grade Track Team Displays Heart and Hustle at Waco ISD Relays

WACO, TX – The Lamar Middle School 8th Grade Lady Bearcats traveled to Paul Tyson Field on March 25 to test their speed and strength at the Waco ISD Relays. Competing against a stacked field, the Lady Bearcats secured 6th Place in the overall team standings with 10 points. Robinson took the top spot with 134 points, followed closely by Travis in 2nd with 130.

While the team title went elsewhere, the Lady Bearcats proved they belong among the region's best, posting several top-tier finishes and personal bests.

Highlighting the Top Performers

The spotlight of the meet fell on Lyric Lott, who delivered the team's highest individual placement of the day. Lott blazed through the 200 meters to take 4th Place with a time of 29.43. She also showed her versatility in the 100-meter dash, finishing 5th Place at 14.13.

Joining her in the top five was Latreasia Gamble, who earned 5th Place in the 200 meters with a mark of 29.96. Gamble also cracked the top ten in the 100 meters, finishing in 8th place with a time of 14.57.
In the field and over the hurdles, the Lady Bearcats continued to stack up points and experience:
Naveah Loper leaped into 6th Place in the Triple Jump with a distance of 28’2.
Raelynn Tanner tossed her way to 6th Place in the Shot Put with a mark of 27’7 ¼.
Delaney Smith fought through the 300m hurdles to take 7th Place with a time of 1:06.31.

Eyes on the Prize: District Divisional

The road doesn't end here for the Lady Bearcats. The team is now shifting their focus to April 1st, when they will travel to Wildcat Stadium in Temple for the Central Texas District Divisional Meet.

The pressure is on, as the Top 4 finishers in each event will qualify for the prestigious Central Texas District Track & Field Championships. Based on the grit shown in Waco, the Lady Bearcats are poised for a strong showing on their home-turf district stage.
