TEMPLE, TX — Under the bright lights of Wildcat Stadium on April 1, the Lamar Middle School 7th Grade Lady Bearcat Track & Field team battled through a competitive field at the Cen-Tex Divisional Meet. With a trip to the District Championships on the line, the Lady Bearcats showcased grit and speed against some of the region's top programs.

In a powerhouse field, North Belton claimed the top spot in the team standings with 241 points, followed by Midway in second with 153. The Lady Bearcats finished in 6th place overall, tallying 14 points. While the team score reflected a tough afternoon of competition, the day was highlighted by standout individual performances that punched tickets to the post-season.

Soto Leads the Charge to District

The headline of the meet for Lamar was the exceptional performance of Alexandria Soto. Soto proved to be a force on the track, securing podium finishes in two separate events and becoming the sole Lady Bearcat to qualify for the upcoming District Meet.

Soto’s highlight of the night came in the 200 meters, where she sprinted to a stellar 2nd Place finish with a time of 28.74. She followed that up with a bronze-medal performance in the 400 meters, clocking in at 1:12.18 to take 3rd Place. By finishing in the top four, Soto officially advances to represent Lamar at the championship level.
