TEMPLE, TX — The Lamar Middle School 8th grade Lady Bearcat soccer team kicked off their season Thursday evening at Brad Dusek Field, hosting a formidable River Valley Middle School squad. Despite a gritty defensive effort in the opening minutes, the Lady Bearcats ultimately fell to the Panthers in a 10-0 decision.

The match served as the season debut for Lamar, while River Valley entered the contest with the advantage of having one game already under their belt. That extra experience proved pivotal as the evening progressed.

A Tale of Two Halves

The Lady Bearcats showed flashes of resilience early in the first half, working to clog passing lanes and disrupt the Panthers' rhythm. However, as the clock ticked into the second half, the River Valley offense found its stride.
The Panthers unleashed a scoring surge after the halftime break, capitalizing on fatigue and precision passing to pull away. While the scoreline favored the visitors, the Lady Bearcats continued to fight until the final whistle, using the match as a high-intensity learning experience for the weeks to come.
