BELTON — The Lamar Lady Bearcats 7th Grade "B" volleyball team opened their season on the road Thursday evening, falling in straight sets to the Lake Belton Middle School Lady Tigers by scores of 25-9 and 25-11.
Despite facing a tough Lake Belton squad in hostile territory, the Lady Bearcats showed flashes of grit and determination throughout the match.
Leading the effort on the court were Penelope Olivencia and Brayden Cage, who were both named Players of the Game for their relentless effort, communication, and standout play under pressure.
While the opening match didn't go the Lady Bearcats' way, the team continues to build momentum and refine their rotation as the early season unfolds.
Lamar will look to bounce back next week as they return to action on Thursday, September 3. The Lady Bearcats will travel across town to take on cross-town rival Travis Science Academy Lady Mustangs, with the first serve scheduled for 5:00 PM.
