TEMPLE, Texas — The Lamar Lady Bearcat 8th Grade A volleyball team made the short trip across town on Thursday evening to battle rival Travis Science Academy, but ultimately came up empty-handed. In a tough road matchup, the Lady Bearcats dropped both sets to the Lady Mustangs, falling 25-16, 25-14.

The loss drops Lamar to 0-2 on the early season as they continue to search for their first victory.

Despite the setback, there were bright spots for the Lady Bearcats. Alex Soto was named the Lamar Player of the Match following an inspiring, hard-fought performance. Soto consistently brought energy to the court and stepped up to lead her team through some of the contest's toughest rallies.

The Lady Bearcats will look to bounce back and reset their momentum next week. Lamar hits the road once again on Thursday, September 10, traveling to face South Belton Middle School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
