Returning from their bye week, the Lamar 7th Grade Bearcat football team traveled to Lake Belton for an intense, back-and-forth battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

Lake Belton struck first early in the contest to take a 6–0 lead, but the Bearcats answered right back. Behind tough, physical running, Jakari Jones found the end zone to tie the game at 6–6.

Lamar's defense made its presence felt throughout the first half by forcing two key turnovers. Defensive fumbles forced by Jayse Whitted and Jakari Jones were both recovered by Brian Santamaria, keeping the game tight. However, Lake Belton managed to punch in a touchdown right before halftime to take a 12–6 lead into the break.

Lake Belton extended their lead to 18–6 early in the third quarter, but the Bearcats refused to back down. Jeronimo LaRotha capped off a strong drive with a touchdown run, trimming the deficit to 18–13. After Lake Belton responded with another score to make it 24–13, Lamar bounced back on the very next drive with another touchdown, cutting the lead to 24–19.

Forced to attempt an onside kick in the closing minutes, the Bearcats were unable to recover, bringing the hard-fought contest to an end. Despite coming up just short, Lamar displayed incredible heart, grit, and resilience throughout all four quarters.

Up Next: The Bearcats return home for their final home game of the season on Monday, October 19, when they host Belton at Brad Dusek Field.
