The Lamar Bearcat 8th Grade football team hosted River Valley Middle School at Woodson Field on Wednesday evening. The Bearcats built an early 14-8 lead over the Panthers before River Valley rallied to defeat the Bearcats 16-14. Lamar had 4 chances inside the Panther 10 yard line in the final minute, but a motion penalty on an apparent touchdown negated a Bearcat touchdown and the Panthers were able to hold on to the victory.

The Offensive Player o f the Game were Cederius Mathis with a pair of receiving touchdowns and Mehki Austin 2 with a pair of touchdown passes.

The "Big Hit Award" went to Chaston Espinosa who also had a forced fumble.

The Bearcats will return to action on October 21st with a road game versus Belton Middle School at Tiger Field.
