BURNET, TX — The Lamar Middle School Bearcat 8th Grade Track & Field team traveled to Burnet Football Field on Wednesday, March 11, delivering a competitive performance at the Burnet Bulldog Relays. Competing against a fast field, the Bearcats secured a solid 4th place finish in the overall team standings with 80 points. Host team Burnet took the top spot with 212 points, followed by Marble Falls in 2nd with 127.
Standout Performances
The highlight of the meet belonged to Damian Mitchell-Ferris, who proved to be the fastest man on the track by capturing 1st Place in the 100-meter dash with a blistering time of 12.07 seconds. Mitchell-Ferris was a workhorse for Lamar, also contributing to two high-placing relay teams and scoring points in the Long Jump and High Jump.
The Bearcat relay units were in top form, securing silver in both the 4x200 relay (1:44.48) and the 4x400 relay (4:26.81). Individually, Liam Izunza earned a 2nd place finish in the 400 meters, while Harlem Taylor soared to 2nd place in the Triple Jump with a leap of 33’10.
