BELTON — The Lamar Middle School 8th Grade A Lady Bearcats captured their first win of the season Thursday evening, digging deep to outlast South Belton Middle School in a hard-fought three-set battle on the road.

Lamar came out firing in the opening set, dominating every aspect of the game to cruise to a decisive 25-8 victory. South Belton responded with heavy pressure in the second frame, edging out the Lady Bearcats in a tight 25-27 contest to force a decisive third set. Refusing to let the momentum slip away, Lamar regrouped and closed out the match with a gritty 15-11 win in the final set.

The standout performances of the night belonged to Abigail Medrano and Kealy Walker, who were named the Lady Bearcat Players of the Game for their steady leadership and clutch plays down the stretch.

With the victory, Lamar improves to 1-2 on the season as they turn their attention to their upcoming home opener. The Lady Bearcats will host Copperas Cove SC Lee Junior High on Thursday, September 17, at Bearcat Gym. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
