The Lamar 7th-grade football team faced off against rival Travis Middle School, ultimately falling 32-20 in a game defined by special teams play.

Travis struck first, but Lamar responded quickly when Jakari Jones broke free for a dynamic 50-yard touchdown run. After Travis scored again, Luis Quezada made a clutch play by blocking the point-after attempt, which Jeronimo La Rotha scooped up and returned to trim the deficit to 14-8.

Special teams struggles proved to be Lamar's kryptonite in the second half, as Travis recovered three onside kicks and capitalized on the extra possessions to extend their lead to 32-8. Despite the deficit, Lamar kept fighting back behind a standout performance from Luis Quezada, who was named Player of the Game. Quezada sparked the offense with a kickoff return for a touchdown, then added a 40-yard rushing touchdown to bring Lamar closer, though the comeback ultimately fell short.

Lamar will look to get in the win column when they host South Belton on September 21st.
