Waco– The Lamar 8th grade girls cross country teams participated in the Midway Invitational at the HOT Soccer Complex in Waco on Wednesday.

The Lady Bearcats had a strong start to their season with three runners finishing in the top 31 spots. Azaria Staples took 8th place overall to lead Lamar as she ran the 1.7 mile course in a time of 11:54.

Jaylynn York ran a 12:24 to take 15th place and Desiree Tools placed 31st with a time of 13:06.

Lamar returns to action on September 11th when they will compete in the Cameron Invitational at Cameron Junior High.
