The Lamar Middle School 7th Grade Track & Field team traveled to John Glover Stadium on March 4 to compete in the Academy Bumblebee Relays. Facing a crowded field of talented athletes from across the region, the Bearcats focused on precision and speed in their early-season appearance.
While many athletes took to the track to represent Lamar, the official scoring focused on the top-tier finishers who managed to break into the final rankings.
Top Performer
The standout performance of the meet for the Bearcats came from Jafari Bennett. Competing in the 200-meter dash, Bennett showed impressive acceleration and lane discipline. He crossed the finish line with a time of 26.67 seconds, earning a hard-fought 5th place finish and securing the team's official time for the event.
Next Meet: Burnet Relays
The Bearcats will look to build on this performance as they continue their spring season. The team is scheduled to return to action on March 11, when they travel to Burnet, Texas, to participate in the Burnet Relays. With a week of practice ahead, the squad is hungry to add more names to the leaderboards.
