HEWITT, TX – The Lamar Middle School 8th grade boys' track and field team traveled to Panther Stadium on Tuesday, April 7, to close out their 2026 season at the prestigious Cen-Tex District Track & Field Championships.
The meet served as the ultimate showdown for Central Texas middle school athletics, bringing together only the "best of the best"—the top four finishers from last week’s two Divisional Qualifiers. In a field of elite competitors, the Bearcats secured 9th place in the team standings with 22 points. North Belton took home the district crown with 101 points, followed by Lake Belton in second with 86.
Top Performers and Medalists
The Bearcats were led by powerhouse performances in the field and on the sprint path, coming away with two podium finishes against the region's fastest and strongest athletes.
Noah Bolivar (District Champion): Bolivar delivered the highlight of the day for Lamar, dominating the Shot Put ring. With a massive toss of 43’8, he secured 1st Place and the gold medal, officially cementing his status as the top thrower in the district.
Damian Mitchell-Ferris (Bronze Medalist): Mitchell-Ferris proved his speed in a crowded field of sprinters. He earned 3rd Place in the 200 meters with a blistering time of 24.89, providing the Bearcats with a vital podium presence on the track.

The following athletes represented Lamar Middle School at the District Championship. Each of these young men earned their spot by qualifying in the top of their respective events last week.
Noah Bolivar Took the gold in the Shot Put with a distance of 43’8.
Damian Mitchell-Ferris A triple-threat at the championships, he earned 3rd Place in the 200 meters (24.89), 5th Place in the 100 meters (12.21), and 8th Place in the Long Jump (16’10).
Anthony Martin Narrowly missed the podium with a strong performance in the Shot Put, earning 4th Place with a distance of 41’5.
Raymond Velasquez Competed against the district's best mid-distance runners, finishing in 8th Place in the 400 meters with a time of 59.48.
With the conclusion of the Cen-Tex District Meet, the 2026 track and field season officially comes to a close. Congratulations to the Bearcats on a hard-fought year!
